OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z Review
OnePlus Bullets wireless Z is younger sibling of OnePlus wireless 2 earphone which is available at half of the price.
This earphone is not a cheap quality earphone at cheap price rather it is the only earphone in this range which is giving a top notch quality at low price and i am saying this after using variety of earphones of different brands i.e. Sony, JBL, Skullcandy earphones.
Also you can not compare this to any other chines earphone available in the market as the quality which you are getting at this price can easily beat any of it's competitor.
So let's dive in to the review of this Oneplus Bullet wireless Z earphone.
I will be reviewing this in three parts i.e. Design & Built , Battery & Connectivity and last one will be sound quality.
Design & Build quality
Earphones are made of good quality plastic which doesn't look cheap at all, also due to use of plastic it become lighter which weighs around 28g only.
The headset looks the same as the OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2 which was launched in 2019. The earphones and neckband look the same with the same buttons as well, but small changes in the colour of the accents, as well as the new OnePlus logo on the neckband signify that this is indeed the newer ‘Z' headset.
This headset comes with water & dust resistant IP55 rating which makes it more useful for those who are planning to use this while running & workouts.
Not to forget that this headset is having magnetic control which work seamlessly to switch on & off the device, Another very useful feature is Quick Switch, which lets you pair two devices with the earphones, and quickly switch between them by double tapping the Quick Switch / Pairing button on the neckband. This worked very well for us, and we used it to quickly and effectively multitask between a laptop and smartphone.
Battery & Connectivity
The battery performance is the strongest aspect of the Bullets Wireless Z. The company claims up to 20 hours of non-stop music playback on a single charge, a marked improvement over the Bullets Wireless 2’s 14-hour claim. In my experience, the Bullets Wireless Z’s battery life does live up to this claim. It lasted for almost 14 - 18 hours as per my uses which includes watching movies, voice & video calls and some podcast listening.
The amazing battery life of the Bullets Wireless Z is accompanied by the equally amazing Warp Charge wired fast charging tech, which fills up the empty battery at a moment’s notice. OnePlus says a 10-minute charge is enough to give you 10 hours of music playback.
The Bullets Wireless Z offers Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity and is backward compatible with older Bluetooth specifications. The signal range is excellent, as you would expect from any Bluetooth 5.0 audio accessory. With the Bullets Wireless Z, I don’t have to ensure a clear line of sight or worry about physical obstructions interrupting my audio playback. I could roam in different parts of my house with my phone plugged into the charger in my bedroom, and yet there was no hint of music or calls suffering from connection drops or showing a loss of clarity.
Sound & Call quality
Coming to the audio quality, the Bullets Wireless Z has a warm, bass-forward sound that’s suitable for pop, EDM, and Hip Hop music. Mids are a bit laid back but still come clean without being muffled by the emphasized bass. The Bullets Wireless Z might not be the best sounding product in the wireless earphones category, but they do make for an excellent movie-watching experience thanks to their emphasized bass and clean mids, giving a sort of home-theatre like feel in your ears.
The Bullets Wireless Z offers very good passive noise isolation. Just putting the earphones in will effectively block out a fair amount of outside noise, including the rumbles of engines and the humming of a ceiling fan. Once you start playing music, it’s difficult to make out of what’s going on around you. To achieve the perfect isolation, it’s vitally important that you experiment with the different ear tips and choose the ones that give you a perfect seal.
Call quality was decent however it could be better with noise cancellation feature.
But hey what else can you ask with a headset in this 2K budget.
Conclusion
The OnePlus Bullets Z are fantastic entry-level Bluetooth earphones that nail the fundamentals. They have a reliable build quality that can withstand rough handling, an ergonomic design that’s comfortable to wear for extended periods, and battery life that just goes on and on. The sound quality is decent for everyday listening but certainly not the best in its class. I primarily bought the Bullets Wireless Z due to good battery life & quick switch feature. So if you are on low budget and want good quality of earphones without compromising the features this can be the best deal for you.
